How it works

Step 1

Choose your file

Audio or video — the file opens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is no queue and no upload wait.

Step 2

Let it find the silence

Every cut keeps 0.05 s of natural pause and only quiet stretches at least 100 ms are removed, with detection measured in approximately 10 ms windows. Both values are tunable in the full tools.

Step 3

Preview and download

Compare the original and new durations, play the cleaned audio, and save it as a WAV. Not perfect? Open a full tool, change a setting and run it again.

Processed in your browser, not on a server

Your file is decoded and cut with the Web Audio API on your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and closing the tab erases everything. That also means very long recordings depend on your device's memory rather than a server limit — and your voice stays at its natural speed and pitch, because only silent stretches are deleted.

A browser-based alternative to the Hugging Face silence remover

Using NeuralFalcon’s Remove-Silence-From-Audio Space? Here is how that hosted tool compares with SilenceRemove. This comparison is about that specific Space, not every tool on Hugging Face.

Where processing runs

NeuralFalcon Space: The hosted Space processes uploaded audio on its server.

SilenceRemove: Your browser processes the audio on your own device.

Processing resources

NeuralFalcon Space: Depends on the hosted Space being available and having server resources.

SilenceRemove: No shared processing queue. Large files still depend on your device’s memory.

Cut controls

NeuralFalcon Space: Its published app exposes pause padding, with a fixed default threshold and minimum silence length.

SilenceRemove: Adjust pause padding, silence threshold and minimum silence length, or start with a preset.

Output

NeuralFalcon Space: The published app converts input to WAV before removing silence.

SilenceRemove: Download a 16-bit WAV and compare original and cleaned audio. Video input produces audio only.

The Space’s community has reported interruptions, and its author has discussed resource limits. Those are historical reports, not a claim that it is currently offline. Local processing avoids that hosted processing dependency; it does not guarantee faster processing or better audio quality.

Frequently asked questions

Is this silence remover free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no usage queue. Everything runs on your own device.

Audio or video — which should I pick?

Pick audio if your file is already a sound file (MP3, WAV, M4A…). Pick video if you start from a recording like MP4, MOV or WebM and want its audio track cleaned.

Will my voice sound different afterwards?

The tool does not intentionally change playback speed or pitch. Preview the result to check that quiet speech and word endings are preserved.

How long can my file be?

Maximum file size: 500 MB. Processing uses your device’s memory, so long recordings can fail even below this limit. Split a long recording into shorter parts. Format support depends on your browser.
